Title of Research Project: “Towards a Justice-Centered Model for Community Engagement in Carbon Dioxide Removal”
Summary:
This project will focus on building a model for justice-centered community engagement for carbon dioxide removal (CDR) projects in California wetland ecosystems. Elements of this model will be integrated into the CA Rapid Assessment Method (CRAM) database, utilized by researchers and policymakers to evaluate CA wetlands
current state and performance, to ensure consideration of community concerns in CDR wetland restoration projects.
Though this particular focus is on wetlands, this ultimately will encourage future implementation of similar tools to
go alongside natural science data collection and ensure public engagement with the surrounding communities of
carbon dioxide removal efforts.
